Earth Day

Happy Earth Day! What exactly is Earth Day, and how did it begin?
Earth Day is an annual event that unites more than 1 billion people around the world to raise awareness about the threats our planet faces. It serves as a reminder that we all share a role in protecting and preserving our Earth for future generations. The idea was started back in 1970 when activist John McConnell and Wisconsin Senator Gaylord Nelson asked Americans to help protest about the concerns of water and air pollution, pesticides, and other dangerous issues. April 22nd eventually became the selected official celebration day, and over time, it has become a global event.
Earth Day is not only about raising awareness, but it is also about taking meaningful steps and taking action. It has become a day for communities to gather and participate in activities to help Earth. Activities include planting a tree, cleaning up plastic and trash in your area, conserving water, and more. If you’re looking for ways to get involved, look up local events or volunteer opportunities! Every action counts!
